Mind Academy

The Mind Academies are an intervention program created by the founders of Human Coop, aimed at the older and/or vulnerable population, which aims to:

Combat social isolation;

Promote active and healthy aging, quality of life, and physical, social and emotional well-being;

Facilitate the aging at home and in the community;

Promote mental health, preventing dementia.

The Mind Academy is an intervention program conducted in groups, once a week, lasting 45 minutes, in the community at local associations or parish council facilities, and consists of senior dance sessions, cognitive stimulation and creative activities, in a rotating format.

Senior Dance®

Standing or seated dances, circle dances and also line dances, folk dances from around the world, and ballroom dances, adapted to the characteristics of the participants. Simple and complex, joyful choreographies are performed, which work on mobility, the mind and provide a lot of energy and social interaction.

Senior Dance® is an intervention modality for aging that was created in Germany in 1971 by Ilse Tutt and is present in several European countries and Brazil.

Cognitive Stimulation

Paper-and-pen activities and games that stimulate memory, attention, planning, perception, language and other cognitive functions. Challenges are carried out to activate the mind and improve cognitive functioning.

Em 2022 a Human Coop editou o livro “Caderno de Estimulação Cognitiva” e em 2023 o jogo “Cogni+ Onde está a cor?”, duas ferramentas de estimulação cognitiva criadas com a experiência destas sessões.

Creative Activities

Group dynamics, body and music expression dynamics. The proposed activities activate memories, imagination, creativity, and moments of relaxation.

The participants who integrate the Mind Academy program can also participate in other sharing, socializing, cultural, and exchange activities organized by Human Coop.
